Star Trek: The Continuing Mission: (Star Trek: TCM abbreviated) is an audio only, downloadable Star Trek program set primarily in the 24th century. The show was created by Sebastian Prooth and Andy Tyrer and is released on http://www.continuingmission.com

Due to the nature of non-Paramount authorized productions, Star Trek: TCM, is a non-profit production. The producers were determined to depict a Starfleet crew who were more militaristic and less perfect than the spandex wearing Star Trek: The Next Generation. Starting in the pilot episode, Star Trek: TCM aims to have previous Star Trek guest stars appear on the program.

As the producers of Star Trek: The Continuing Mission are fans themselves and often make use of behind the scenes materials provided on DVDs etc, they decided to publish regular podcasts about the progress of the production of the pilot, Ghost Ship, as well as releasing behind the scenes commentaries for every episode released.

Summary

Star Trek: The Continuing Mission begins in the 2270’s, at the time of the Star Trek film “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” and by the last few minutes of the pilot episode are in the late 2350’s or about five years before the first missions of Star Trek: TNG.

The Continuing Mission follows the adventures of the Trieste class, USS Montana NCC 1786 and crew of seven humans and a Betazoid. The show brings back the opening monologue used on the classic Star Trek as well as Star Trek: TNG with some small changes:

“Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Montana -- the continuing mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no crew has gone before.”
